Dr. Barmpoutis is an expert in mathematical modeling, processing of medical data, and software engineering. His published software for diffusion-weighted MRI visualization and processing has been extensively used by researchers at major universities and research institutes worldwide including MIT and INRIA. His research interests lie in the areas of biomedical image processing and visualization with special focus on diffusion MRI, virtual reality in medicine, machine vision and applications, and human motion capture and analysis. Dr. Barmpoutis brings several years of experience in building public facing software solutions, data security, and scalability. He holds a PhD in Computer Engineering from the University of Florida, a MSc in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from the University of Glasgow, and a BSc in Computer Science from Aristorle University of Thessaloniki.
